Musical Mystery: The Dahlia Murder is a fictionalized account of the actual Black Dahlia murder case of 1947. This case was, (and still is in crime fan's minds) a very famous unsolved mystery--that ended in the demise of a young, beautiful wanna-be actress named Elizabeth Short. Murdered while trying to break into the movies, poor choices in confidantes and establishments ultimately lead to her death.
For our summer show, Leo Van Asten--music, Molly Holm--choreography and Amy Shaw--writer/director, have decided to fictionalize this tragic story, while trying to fill in the blanks of the case by setting it to music. They have added a lot of much needed joy to the struggle of this young woman, along with many other vivid characters and plot wrinkles.
