 Helpful Hints

Welcome to cwACT. We are glad that you are interested in acting with us, and please know that this is your community theater as well. If you are new to theater experience, this is a short list of helpful hints:

• Being prompt for your rehearsal time shows that you value the time of the director and fellow actors, as does being quiet so as to not disturb those acting.
• Learning your lines, cues and entrances is your responsibility. Be aware of the progress of the play, and rehearsal as there is no one to prompt you to get ready.
• Maintain a positive attitude toward your fellow actors, and the hard working production crew assisting you. Respect the time assigned you for make-up, costume fittings, and photos.
• Consult with the director before making any changes to your physical appearance.
• The director and stage manager will give you specific additional instructions.

 A few more things

We are not a large organization with extra technical support, therefore, it is mandatory for actors to participate in load-in of sets from the ACT bldg. to Sentry, donating 2 hours of set building support the weekend before the play, and striking the set, and returning it to the ACT bldg. Discuss potential schedule conflicts with the director before the rehearsals start, but plan on being at every tech rehearsal (the week preceding the play). Record shots are a historical documentation of the play and need to be done after one of the performances and require your participation. Please ask the director for permission for someone to attend a rehearsal. Parents of minors are encouraged to attend rehearsal, and participate in load-in, and strike. Please be safety conscious backstage when entering sets and platforms and moving in the dark. Wear appropriate clothing, shoes and gloves when handling the set during strike and load-in. Please protect minors helping backstage by keeping them away from potentially dangerous ladders, equipment or inappropriate language or behavior. It would be nice if you could return the favor of the technical staff and do something "techy" in another play. And you better have fun (c;
